DOE Online Learning Guidance for the Week of December 7th

The DOE Phase 0 program for the Department of Energy’s FY21 Phase I Release 2 Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is underway and it’s time to take the first steps towards submitting a compelling and successful proposal to DOE. The DOE Phase 0 Online Tutorials are aimed at helping those individuals who wish to apply for a Phase I award do just that. The following recommendations will be helpful for this week:

Tutorial 12: What are the required Registrations?
This tutorial works to simplify and explain the seven required registrations and process by identifying the most critical steps and making sure you don’t miss them.

Tutorial 13: How do you Prepare a Letter of Intent?
Since DOE is unique in its requirement for companies to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) prior to submitting a Phase I SBIR or STTR grant application, this tutorial is very helpful for applicants to review and goes over what is required in this document.

Tutorial 16: How do I put my team in place?
The technology is important, but so is the team behind it. This tutorial helps you make critical decisions about the make-up of your team by outlining four ways to add new members to an SBIR/STTR team and discussing how this impacts the proposal process.

Tutorial 18: Components of your DOE Phase I proposal
Who doesn’t love a cheat sheet? Tutorial 9 gave you a Proposal Preparation Checklist to download, and this tutorial includes a .pdf chart that introduces the components of the documentation applicants need to submit as part of their SBIR or STTR application package. The narrative that accompanies the chart is also very helpful as it provides you with additional details about planning and timelines as you begin to prepare your proposal.

As always, if you need assistance, you may contact the DOE SBIR/STTR Help Desk at SBIR-STTR@science.doe.gov or call (301) 903-5707 between the hours of 8:30 am and 5pm Eastern, Monday – Friday.

Please look for more assistance in the coming weeks!

Sincerely,
